JUS works through participatory and rights-based approaches intended to strengthen community agency rather than substitute for it.
Core approaches
- Participation: involve communities in identifying priorities, shaping responses and reviewing progress.
- Inclusion: consider barriers affecting children, women, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups.
- Safeguarding: prioritize dignity, consent, confidentiality and do-no-harm practice.
- Accountability: document decisions, use resources responsibly and create space for feedback and concerns.
- Partnership: collaborate with communities, public institutions, civil society, technical partners, responsible businesses and volunteers.
- Learning: improve programme quality through evidence, reflection and adaptation.
